HARROW SWIMMING
MISSION&VISION

Have fun while achieving your goals

We are a family club, which is predominately run by volunteers. The Borough of Harrow SC is a club that puts the needs of the swimmers first. Doing our best to provide an environment that allows each and every swimmer to feel special and safe. To allow each swimmer to fulfill their potential and to celebrate that success.  Respecting and including all sections of the community.

The club wants to help young children grow up to become positive members of society. Using swimming to teach them valuable life skills and life lessons. So that when they leave the club, they leave us as well rounded young adults

LEARN MOREABOUT HARROW SWIMMING

The Club provides children the opportunity to learn and develop swimming skills.

The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club (BHSC) was founded in 1976 to encourage and pursue high standards in the sport of Competitive Swimming. BHSC bis a member of Swim England which is the national governing body for swimming in England The Club is a competitive swimming club, across a broad range of ages and abilities (4 to 65 and more).

For younger swimmers, BHSC follows Swim England Long Term Athlete Development(LTAD) program to develop stroke ability and competitive training skills.

The Club encourages all young swimmers to participate in the internal galas, and where swimmers are able, the club would want them to participate in County, Regional and National competitions.

Swimming is arranged in squads, reflecting the swimmers age, ability and expected number of swims per week. For most squads there are more sessions available per week than are expected to be swum by the member, allowing some flexibility.

Squads for the younger, less able swimmers are taught improved stroke technique, starts and turns. More advanced training sessions are offered to club members who are of a competitive standard.

The Squad schedule and information about the structured progression through the club can be found in the Club Handbook .Up-to-date editions are displayed on our club website www.harrowswim.club.

During the summer holiday weeks, squads are merged to keep up the numbers in each session. The Club does not swim during Public Holidays (the pools are closed).

Sessions can be cancelled to accommodate competitions, although often an alternative venue or session is made available where members cannot participate in the competition.

Adolescents are encouraged to stay involved in swimming by learning to teach and coach.
